1. 왕의 마음이 여호와의 손에 있음이 마치 봇물과 같아서 그가 임의로 인도하시느니라
1. The kings heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.
1。王の心は、主の手の中にあって水の流れのよう。主はみこころのままに、その向きを変えられる。

2. 사람의 행위가 자기 보기에는 모두 정직하여도 여호와는 마음을 감찰하시느니라
2. All a mans ways seem right to him, but the LORD weights the heart.
2。人には自分の歩みがみなまっすぐに見える。しかし、主は人の心を評価される。

3. 공의와 정의를 행하는 것은 제사 드리는 것보다 여호와께서 기쁘게 여기시느니라
3. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
3。義と公正を行うことは、主の前で、いけにえより望ましい。

4. 눈이 높은 것과 마음이 교만한 것과 악인이 형통한 것은 다 죄니라
4. Haughty eyes and a proud hearts, the lamp of the wicked, are sin!
4。高ぶる目とおごる心。悪しき者のともしびは罪。

5. 부지런한 자의 경영은 풍부함에 이를 것이나 조급한 자는 궁핍함에 이를 따름이니라
5. The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
5。勤勉な人の計画は利益をもたらし、すべて慌てる者は損失を招くだけだ。

6. 속이는 말로 재물을 모으는 것은 죽음을 구하는 것이라 곧 불려다니는 안개니라
6. A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare.
6。偽りの舌をもって財宝を得る者は、吹き払われるもやのよう。死を追い求める者だ。

7. 악인의 강포는 자기를 소멸하나니 이는 정의를 행하기 싫어함이니라
7. The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right.
7。悪しき者たちは自らの暴力に引きずられる。公正を行おうとしないからだ。

8. 죄를 크게 범한 자의 길은 심히 구부러지고 깨끗한 자의 길은 곧으니라
8. The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
8。罪人の道はねじれている。しかし、純粋な人の行いは真っ直ぐだ。

9. 다투는 여인과 함께 큰 집에서 사는 것보다 움막에서 사는 것이 나으니라
9. Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.
9。争い好きな女と一緒に家にいるよりは、屋上の片隅に住むほうがよい。

10. 악인의 마음은 남의 재앙을 원하나니 그 이웃도 그 앞에서 은혜를 입지 못하느니라
10. The wicked man craves evil; his neighbor gets no mercy from him.
10。悪しき者のたましいは悪事に憧れ、その目に隣人へのあわれみはない。

11. 거만한 자가 벌을 받으면 어리석은 자도 지혜를 얻겠고 지혜로운 자가 교훈을 받으면 지식이 더하리라
11. When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; when a wise man is instructed, he gets knowledge.
11。嘲る者が罰を受けると、浅はかな者が知恵を得る。知恵のある人が賢くなると、その人は知識を加える。

12. 의로운 자는 악인의 집을 감찰하시고 악인을 환난에 던지시느니라
12. The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin.
12。正しい方は悪者の家を見抜き、悪者どもをわざわいに導かれる。

13. 귀를 막고 가난한 자가 부르짖는 소리를 듣지 아니하면 자기를 부르짖을 때에도 들을 자가 없으리라
13. If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out an not be answered.
13。貧しい者の叫びに耳を閉ざす者は、自分が呼ぶときにも答えてもらえない。

14. 은밀한 선물은 노를 쉬게 하고 품 안의 뇌물은 맹렬한 분을 그치게 하느니라
14. A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.
14。ひそかな贈り物は怒りを鎮め、懐の賄賂は激しい憤りを鎮める。

15. 정의를 행하는 것이 의인에게는 즐거움이요 죄인에게는 패망이니라
15. When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.
15。公正が行われることは、正しい人には喜び、不法を行う者には恐怖。

16. 명철의 길을 떠난 사람은 사망의 회중에 거하리라
16. A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead.
16。賢明さへの道から迷い出る人は、死者の霊たちの集いで安らぐ。

17. 연락을 좋아하는 자는 가난하게 되고 술과 기름을 좋아하는 자는 부하게 되지 못하느니라
17. He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never he rich.
17。快楽を愛する者は貧しい人となり、ぶどう酒や油を愛する者は富むことがない。

18. 악인은 의인의 속전이 되고 사악한 자는 정직한 자의 대신이 되느니라
18. The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright.
18。悪しき者が正しい人のための身代金となり、裏切り者が直ぐな人の身代わりとなる。

19. 다투며 성내는 여인과 함께 사는 것보다 광야에서 사는 것이 나으니라
19. Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife.
19。争い好きで、苛立つ女といるよりは、荒野に住むほうがまだましだ。

20. 지혜 이쓴ㄴ 자의 집에는 귀한 보배와 기름이 있으나 미련한 자는 이것을 다 삼켜 버리느니라
20. In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.
20。知恵のある者の住まいには、好ましい財宝と油がある。しかし、愚かな人はこれを呑み尽くす。

21. 공의와 인자를 따라 구하는 자는 생명과 공의와 영광을 얻느니라
21. He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
21。義と恵みを追い求める者は、いのちと義と誉れを見出す。

22. 지혜로운 자는 용사의 성에 올라가서 그 성이 의지하는 방벽을 허느니라
22. A wise man attacks the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust.
22。知恵のある者は勇士たちの町に攻め上り、その頼みとする砦を崩す。

23. 입과 혀를 지키는 자는 자기의 영혼을 환난에서 보전하느니라
23. He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.
23。自分の口と舌を守る者は、自分自身を守って苦難にあわない。

24. 무례하고 교만한 자를 이름하여 망령된 자라 하나니 이는 넘치는 교만으로 행함이니라.
24. The proud and arrogant man — “Mocker” is his name; he behaves with overweening pride.
24。横柄で不遜な者、その名は「嘲る者」。彼は憤然として横柄にふるまう。

25. 게으른 자의 욕망이 자기를 죽이나니 이는 자기의 소니으로 일하기를 싫어함이니라
25. The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.
25。怠け者の欲望はその身を殺す。その手が、働くことを拒むからだ。

26. 어떤 자는 종일토록 탐하기만 하나 의인은 아끼지 아니하고 베푸느니라
26. All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing.
26。この者は一日中、自分の欲望に明け暮れる。しかし、正しい人は人に与えて惜しまない。

27. 악인의 제물은 본래 가증하거든 하물며 악한 뜻으로 드리는 것이랴
27. The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable — how much more so when brought with evil intent!
27。悪しき者のいけにえは忌み嫌われる。悪意をもって献げるときは、なおさらのこと。

28. 거짓 증인은 패망하려니와 확실히 들은 사람의 말은 힘이 있느니라
28. A false witness will perish, and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever.
28。偽りの証人は滅びる。しかし、よく聞く者は正しく語り続ける。

29. 악인은 자기의 얼굴을 굳게 하나 정직한 자는 자기의 행위를 삼가느니라
29. A wicked man puts up a bold front, but an upright man gives thought to his ways.
29。悪しき者は厚かましいが、直ぐな人は自分の道をわきまえる。

30. 지혜로도 못하고, 명철로도 못하고 모략으로도 여호와를 당하지 못하느니라
30. There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.
30。どんな知恵も英知もはかりごとも、主の前では無きに等しい。

31. 싸울 날을 위하여 마병을 예비하거니와 이김은 여호와께 있느니라
31. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.
31。戦いの日のためには馬が備えられる。しかし、救いは主による。
