1. 레아가 야곱에게 낳은 딸 디나가 그 땅의 딸들을 보러 나갔더니

1. Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land.

1。レアがヤコブに産んだ娘ディナは、その土地の娘たちを訪ねようと出かけて行った。

 

2. 히위 족속 중 하몰의 아들 그 땅의 추장 세겜이 그를 보고 끌어들여 강간하여 욕되게 하고

2. When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and violated her.

2。すると、その土地の族長であるヒビ人ハモルの子シェケムが彼女を見て、これを捕らえ、これと寝て辱めた。

 

3. 그 마음이 깊이 야곱의 딸 디나에게 연연하며 그 소녀를 사랑하여 그의 마음을 말로 위로하고

3. His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke tenderly to her.

3。彼はヤコブの娘ディナに心を奪われ、この若い娘を愛し、彼女に優しく語りかけた。

 

4. 그의 아버지 하몰에게 청하여 이르되 이 소녀를 내 아내로 얻게 하여 주소서 하였더라

4. And Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Get me this girl as my wife.”

4。シェケムは父のハモルに言った。「この娘を私の妻にしてください。」

 

5. 야곱이 그 딸 디나를 그가 더럽혔다 함을 들었으나 자기의 아들들이 들에서 목축하므로 그들이 돌아오기까지 잠잠하였고

5. When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he kept quiet about it until they came home.

5。ヤコブは、シェケムが自分の娘ディナを汚したことを聞いた。息子たちは、そのとき、家畜を連れて野にいた。それでヤコブは、彼らが帰って来るまで黙っていた。

 

6. 세겜의 아버지 하몰은 야곱에게 말하러 왔으며

6. Then Shechem’s father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob.

6。シェケムの父ハモルは、ヤコブと話し合うためにやって来た。

 

7. 야곱의 아들들은 들에서 이를 듣고 돌아와서 그들 모두가 근심하고 심히 노하였으니 이는 세겜이 야곱의 딸을 강간하여 이스라엘에게 부끄러운 일 곧 행하지 못할 일을 행하였음이더라

7. Now Jacob’s sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were filled with grief and fury, because Shechem had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob’s daughter — a thing that should not be done.

7。ヤコブの息子たちは野から帰って来て、このことを聞いた。息子たちは心を痛め、激しく怒った。シェケムがヤコブの娘と寝て、イスラエルの中で恥辱となることを行ったからである。このようなことは、してはならないことである。

 

8. 하몰이 그들에게 이르되 내 아들 세겜이 망므으로 너희 딸을 연연하여 하니 원하건대 그를 세겜에게 주어 아내로 삼게 하라

8. But Hamor said to them, “My son Shechem has his heart set on your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife.

8。ハモルは彼らに語りかけた。「私の息子シェケムは、心からあなたがたの娘さんを恋い慕っています。どうか娘さんを息子の嫁にしてください。

 

9. 너희가 우리와 통혼하여 너희 딸을 우리에게 주며 우리 딸을 너희가 데려가고

9. Intermarry with us; give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves.

9。私たちは互いに姻戚関係を結びましょう。あなたがたの娘さんを私たちに下さり、私たちの娘をあなたがたが迎えてください。

 

10. 너희가 우리와 함께 거주하되 땅이 너희 앞에 있으니 여기 머물러 매매하며 여기서 기업을 얻으라 하고

10. You can settle among us; the land is open to you. Live in it, trade in it, and acquire property in it.”

10。こうして私たちとともに住んでください。この土地は、あなたがたの前に広がっています。ここに住み、自由に行き来し、ここに土地を得てください。」

 

11. 세겜도 디나와 아버지와 그의 남자 형제들에게 이르되 나로 너희에게 은혜를 입게 하라 너희가 내게 말하는 것은 내가 다 주리니

11. Then Shechem said to Dinah’s father and brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and I will give you whatever you ask.

11。シェケムは彼女の父や兄弟たちに言った。「皆さんのご好意を得られるのなら、おっしゃる物を何でも差し上げます。

 

12. 이 소녀만 내게 주어 아내가 되게 하라 아무리 큰 혼수와 예물을 청할지라도 너희가 내게 말한 대로 주리라

12. Make the price for the bride and the gift I am to bring as great as you like, and I’ll pay whatever you ask me. Only give me the girl as my wife.”

12。どんなに高い花嫁料や贈り物であっても、私にお求めください。おっしゃるとおりに差し上げます。ですから、どうか、あの人を私の妻に下さい。」

 

13. 야곱의 아들들이 세겜과 그의 아버지 하몰에게 속여 대답하였으니 이는 세겜이 그 누이 디나를 더럽혔음이라

13. Because their sister Dinah had been defiled, Jacob’s sons replied deceitfully as they spoke to Shechem and his father Hamor.

13。ヤコブの息子たちは、シェケムが自分たちの妹ディナを汚したので、シェケムとその父ハモルをだまそうとして、

 

14. 야곱의 아들들이 그들에게 말하되 우리는 그리하지 못하겠노라 할례 받지 아니한 사람에게 우리 누이를 줄 수 없노니 이는 우리의 수치가 됨이니라

14. They said to them, “We can’t do such a thing; we can’t give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us.

14。答えた。「割礼を受けていない者に私たちの妹をやるような、そんなことは、私たちにはできません。それは、私たちにとって恥辱となることですから。

 

15. 그런즉 이같이 하면 너희에게 허락하리라 만일 너희 중 남자가 다 할례를 받고 우리 같이 되면

15. We will give our consent to you on one condition only: that you become like us by circumcising all your males.

15。ただし、次の条件でなら同意しましょう。もし、あなたがたの男たちがみな、割礼を受けて、私たちと同じようになるなら、

 

16. 우리 딸을 너희에게 주며 너희 딸을 우리가 데려오며 너희와 함께 거주하여 한 민족이 되려니와

16. Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We’ll settle among you and become one people with you.

16。私たちの娘たちをあなたがたに嫁がせ、あなたがたの娘たちを妻に迎えましょう。そうして私たちはともに住み、一つの民となりましょう。

 

17. 너희가 만일 우리 말을 듣지 아니하고 할례를 받지 아니하면 우리는 곧 우리 딸을 데리고 가리라

17. But if you will not agree to be circumcised, we’ll take our sister and go.”

17。しかし、もし、あなたがたが私たちの言うことを聞かず、割礼を受けないなら、私たちは娘を連れてここを去ります。」

 

18. 그들의 말을 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜이 좋게 여기므로

18. Their proposal seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem.

18。彼らの言ったことは、ハモルと、ハモルの子シェケムの心にかなった。

 

19. 이 소년이 그 일 행하기를 지체하지 아니하였으니 그가 야곱의 딸을 사랑함이며 그는 그의 아버지 집에서 가장 존귀하였더라

19. The young man, who was the most honored of all his father’s household, lost no time in doing what they said, because he was delighted with Jacob’s daughter.

19。この若者は、ためらわずにそれを実行した。彼はヤコブの娘を愛していたからである。彼は父の家のだれよりも敬われていた。

 

20. 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜이 그들의 성읍 문에 이르러 그들의 성읍 사람들에게 말하여 이르되

20. So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city to speak to their fellow townsmen.

20。ハモルとその子シェケムは自分たちの町の門に行き、町の人々に告げた。

 

21. 이 사람들은 우리와 친목하고 이 땅은 넓어 그들을 용납할 만하니 그들이 여기서 거주하며 매매하게 하고 우리가 그들의 딸들을 아내로 데려오고 우리 딸들도 그들에게 주자

21. “These men are friendly toward us,” they said. “Let them live in our land and trade in it; the land has plenty of room for them. We can marry their daughters and they can marry ours.

21。「あの人たちは私たちに友好的だ。あの人たちをこの地に住まわせ、この地を自由に行き来させよう。この地は、彼らが来ても十分広いのだから。私たちは彼らの娘たちを妻に迎え、私たちの娘たちを彼らに嫁がせよう。

 

22. 그러나 우리 중의 모든 남자가 그들이 할례를 받음 같이 할례를 받아야 그 사람들이 우리와 함께 거주하여 한 민족 되기를 허락할 것이라

22. But the men will consent to live with us as one people only on the condition that our males be circumcised, as they themselves are.

22。次の条件でなら、あの人たちは、私たちとともに住んで一つの民となることに同意すると言うのだ。それは、彼らが割礼を受けているように、私たちのすべての男たちが割礼を受けることだ。

 

23. 그러면 그들의 가축과 재산과 그들의 모든 짐승이 우리의 소유가 되지 않겠느냐 다만 그들의 말대로 하자 그러면 그들이 우리와 함께 거주하리라

23. Won’t their livestock, their property and all their other animals become ours? So let us give our consent to them, and they will settle among us.”

23。そうすれば、彼らの群れや財産、それにすべての彼らの家畜も、私たちのものになるではないか。さあ、彼らに同意しよう。そうすれば、彼らは私たちとともに住むことになる。」

 

24. 성문으로 출입하는 모든 자가 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜의 말을 듣고 성문으로 출입하는 그 모든 남자가 할례를 받으니라

24. All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised.

24。その町の門に出入りする者はみな、ハモルとその子シェケムの言うことを聞き入れ、その町の門に出入りする男たちはみな割礼を受けた。

 

25. 제삼일에 아직 그들이 아파할 때에 야곱의 두 아들 디나와 오라버니 시므온과 레위가 각기 칼을 가지고 가서 몰래 그 성읍을 기습하여 그 모든 남자를 죽이고

25. Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.

25。三日目になって、彼らの傷が痛んでいるとき、ヤコブの二人の息子、ディナの兄シメオンとレビが、それぞれ剣を取って難なくその町を襲い、すべての男たちを殺した。

 

26. 칼로 하몰과 그의 아들 세겜을 죽이고 디나를 세겜의 집에서 데려오고

26. They put Hamor and his son Shechem to the sword and took Dinah from Shechem’s house and left.

26。彼らはハモルとその子シェケムを剣の刃で殺し、シェケムの家からディナを連れ出した。

 

27. 야곱의 여러 아들이 그 시체 있는 성읍으로 가서 노략하였으니 이는 그들이 그들의 누이를 더럽힌 까닭이라

27. The sons of Jacob came upon the dead bodies and looted the city where their sister had been defiled.

27。ヤコブの息子たちは、刺し殺された者のところに来て、その町を略奪した。自分たちの妹が汚されたからである。

 

28. 그들이 양과 소와 나귀오 ㅏ그 성읍에 있는 것과 들에 있는 것과

28. They seized their flocks and herds and donkeys and everything else of theirs in the city and out in the fields.

28。彼らは、その人たちの羊や牛やろば、それに町にあるもの、野にあるものを奪い、

 

29. 그들의 모든 재물을 빼앗으며 그들의 자녀와 그들의 아내들을 사로잡고 집 속의 물건을 다 노략한지라

29. They carried off all their wealth and all their women and children, taking as plunder everything in the houses.

29。その人たちの全財産、幼子、妻たち、家にあるすべてのものを捕虜にしたり略奪したりした。

 

30. 야곱이 시므온과 레위에게 이르되 너희가 내게 화를 끼쳐 나로 하여금 이 땅의 주민 곧 가나안 족속과 브리스 족속에게 악취를 내게 하였도다 나는 수가 적은즉 그들이 모여 나를 치고 나를 죽이리니 그러면 나와 내 집이 멸망하리라

30. Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, “You have brought trouble on me by making me a stench to the Canaanites and Perizzites, the people living in this land. We are few in number, and if they join forces against me and attack me, I and my household will be destroyed.”

30。それで、ヤコブはシメオンとレビに言った。「あなたがたは私に困ったことをして、私をこの地の住民カナン人とペリジ人に憎まれるようにしてしまった。私は数では劣っている。彼らが一緒に集まって私を攻め、私を打つなら、私も家の者も根絶やしにされてしまうだろう。」

 

31. 그들이 이르되 그가 우리 누이를 창녀 같이 대우함이 옳으니이까

31. But they replied, “Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?”

31。彼らは言った。「私たちの妹が遊女のように扱われてもよいのですか。」
