1. 아브라함 때에 첫 흉년이 들었더니 그 땅에 또 흉년이 들매 이삭이 그랄로 가서 블레셋 왕 아비멜렉에게 이르렀더니

1. Now there was a famine in the land--besides the earlier famine of Abraham's time--and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines in Gerar.

1。さて、アブラハムの時代にあった先の飢饉とは別に、この国にまた飢饉が起こった。それでイサクは、ゲラルのペリシテ人の王アビメレクのもとへ行った。

2. 여호와께서 이삭에게 나타나 이르시되 애굽으로 내려가지 말고 내가 네게 지시하는 땅에 거주하라

2. The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live.

2。主はイサクに現れて言われた。「エジプトへは下ってはならない。わたしがあなたに告げる地に住みなさい。

3. 이 땅에 거류하면 내가 너와 함께 있어 네게 복을 주고 내가 이 모든 땅을 너와 네 자손에게 주리라 내가 네 아버지 아브라함에게 맹세한 것을 이루어

3. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham.

3。あなたはこの地に寄留しなさい。わたしはあなたとともにいて、あなたを祝福する。あなたとあなたの子孫に、わたしがこれらの国々をすべて与える。こうしてわたしは、あなたの父アブラハムに誓った誓いを果たす。

4. 네 자손을 하늘의 별과 같이 번성하게 하며 이 모든 땅을 네 자손에게 주리니 네 자손으로 말미암아 천하 만민이 복을 받으리라

4. I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed,

4。そしてわたしは、あなたの子孫を空の星のように増し加え、あなたの子孫に、これらの国々をみな与える。あなたの子孫によって、地のすべての国々は祝福を受けるようになる。

5. 이는 아브라함이 내 말을 순종하고 내 명령과 내 계명과 내 율례와 내 법도를 지켰음이라 하시니라

5. because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws."

5。これは、アブラハムがわたしの声に聞き従い、わたしの命令と掟とおしえを守って、わたしへの務めを果たしたからである。」

6. 이삭이 그랄에 거주하였더니

6. So Isaac stayed in Gerar.

6。こうしてイサクがゲラルに住んでいたが、

7. 그 곳 사람들이 그의 아내에 대하여 물으매 그가 말하기를 그는 내 누이라 하였으니 리브가는 보기에 아리따우므로 그 곳 백성이 리브가로 말미암아 자기를 죽일까 하여 그는 내 아내라 하기를 두려워함이었더라

7. When the men of that place asked him about his wife, he said, "She is my sister," because he was afraid to say, "She is my wife." He thought, "The men of this place might kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is beautiful."

7。その土地の人々が彼の妻のことを尋ねた。すると彼は「あれは私の妹です」と答えた。この土地の人々がリベカのことで自分を殺しはしないかと思って、「私の妻です」と言うのを恐れたのであった。彼女が美しかったからである。

8. 이삭이 거기 오래 거주하였더니 이삭이 그 아내 리브가를 껴안은 것을 블레셋 왕 아비멜렉이 창으로 내다본지라

8. When Isaac had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down from a window and saw Isaac caressing his wife Rebekah.

8。イサクは長くそこに滞在していた。ある日のこと、ペリシテ人の王アビメレクが窓から見下ろしていると、なんと、イサクがその妻リベカを愛撫しているのが見えた。

9. 이에 아비멜렉이 이삭을 불러 이르되 그가 분명히 네 아내거늘 어찌 네 누이라 하였느나 이삭이 그에게 대답하되 내 생각에 그로 말미암아 내가 죽게 될까 두려워하였음이로라

9. So Abimelech summoned Isaac and said, "She is really your wife! Why did you say, 'She is my sister'?" Isaac answered him, "Because I thought I might lose my life on account of her."

9。アビメレクは、イサクを呼び寄せて言った。「本当のところ、あの女はあなたの妻ではないか。なぜ、あなたは『あれは私の妹です』と言ったのか。」イサクは「彼女のことで殺されはしないかと思ったからです」と答えた。

10. 아비멜렉이 이르되 네가 어찌 우리에게 이렇게 행하였느냐 백성 중 하나가 네 아내와 동침할 뻔하였도다 네가 죄를 윌에게 입혔으리라

10. Then Abimelech said, "What is this you have done to us? One of the men might well have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us."

10。アビメレクは言った。「何ということをしてくれたのか。もう少しで、民の一人があなたの妻と寝て、あなたはわれわれに罪責をもたらすところだった。」

11. 아비멜렉이 이에 모든 백성에게 명하여 이르되 이 사람이나 그의 아내를 범하는 자는 죽이리라 하였더라

11. So Abimelech gave orders to all the people: "Anyone who molests this man or his wife shall surely be put to death."

11。そこでアビメレクは、すべての民に命じて言った。「この人と、この人の妻に触れる者は、必ず殺される。」

12. 이삭이 그 땅에서 농사하여 그 해에 백 배나 얻었고 여호와께서 복을 주시므로

12. Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the LORD blessed him.

12。イサクはその地に種を蒔き、その年に百倍の収穫を見た。主が彼を祝福された。

13. 그 사람이 창대하고 왕성하여 마침내 거부가 되어

13. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.

13。こうして、この人は富み、ますます栄えて、非常に裕福になった。

14. 양과 소가 떼를 이루고 종이 심히 많으므로 블레셋 사람이 그를 시기하여

14. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.

14。彼が羊の群れや牛の群れ、それに多くのしもべを持つようになったので、ペリシテ人は彼をねたんだ。

15. 그 아버지 아브라함 때에 그 아버지의 종들이 판 모든 우물을 막고 흙으로 메웠더라

15. So all the wells that his father's servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.

15。それでペリシテ人は、イサクの父アブラハムの時代に父のしもべたちが掘った井戸を、すべてふさいで土で満たした。

16. 아비멜렉이 이삭에게 이르되 네가 우리보다 크게 강성한즉 우리를 떠나라

16. Then Abimelech said to Isaac, "Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us."

16。アビメレクはイサクに言った。「さあ、われわれのところから出て行ってほしい。われわれより、はるかに強くなったから。」

17. 이삭이 그 곳을 떠나 그랄 골짜기에 장막을 치고 거기 거류하며

17. So Isaac moved away from there and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there.

17。イサクはそこを去り、ゲラルの谷間に天幕を張って、そこに住んだ。

18. 그 아버지 아브라함 때에 팠던 우물들을 다시 팠으니 이는 아브라함이 죽은 후에 블레셋 사람이 그 우물들을 메웠음이라 이삭이 그 우물들의 이름을 그의 아버지가 부르던 이름으로 불렀더라

18. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them.

18。イサクは、彼の父アブラハムの時代に掘られて、アブラハムの死後にペリシテ人がふさいだ井戸を掘り返した。イサクは、それらに父がつけていた名と同じ名をつけた。

19. 이삭의 종들이 골짜기를 파서 샘 근원을 얻었더니

19. Isaac's servants dug in the valley and discovered a well of fresh water there.

19。イサクのしもべたちがその谷間を掘っているとき、そこに湧き水の井戸を見つけた。

20. 그랄 목자들이 이삭의 목자와 다투어 이르되 이 물은 우리의 것이라 하매 이삭이 그 다툼으로 말미암아 그 우물 이름을 에섹이라 하였으며

20. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's herdsmen and said, "The water is ours!" So he named the well Esek, because they disputed with him.

20。ゲラルの羊飼いたちは「この水はわれわれのものだ」と言って、イサクの羊飼いたちと争った。それで、イサクはその井戸の名をエセクと呼んだ。それは彼らがイサクと争ったからである。

21. 또 다른 우물을 팠더니 그들이 또 다투므로 그 이름을 싯나라 하였으며

21. Then they dug another well, but they quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.

21。しもべたちは、もう一つの井戸を掘った。それについても彼らが争ったので、その名をシテナと呼んだ。

22. 이삭이 거기서 옮겨 다른 우물을 팠더니 그들이 다투지 아니하였으므로 그 이름을 르호봇이라 하여 이르되 이제는 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 넓게 하셨으니 이 땅에서 우리가 번성하리로다 하였더라

22. He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, "Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land."

22。イサクはそこから移して、もう一つの井戸を掘った。その井戸については争いがなかったので、その名をレホボテと呼んだ。そして彼は言った。「今や、主は私たちに広い所を与えて、この地で私たちが増えるようにしてくださった。」

23. 이삭이 거기서부터 브엘세바로 올라갔더니

23. From there he went up to Beersheba.

23。彼はそこからべエル・シェバに上った。

24. 그 밤에 여호와께서 그에게 나타나 이르시되 나는 네 아버지 아브라함의 하나님이니 두려워하지 말라

24. That night the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bless you and will increase the number of your descendants for the sake of my servant Abraham."

24。主はその夜、彼に現れて言われた。「わたしは、あなたの父アブラハムの神である。恐れてはならない。わたしがあなたとともにいるからだ。わたしはあなたを祝福し、あなたの子孫を増し加える。わたしのしもべアブラハムのゆえに。」

25. 이삭이 그 곳에 제단을 쌓고, 여호와의 이름을 부르며 거기 장막을 쳤더니 이삭의 종들이 거기서도 우물을 팠더라

25. Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the LORD. There he pitched his tent, and there his servants dug a well.

25。イサクはそこに祭壇を築き、主の御名に呼び求めた。彼はそこに天幕を張り、イサクのしもべらは、そこに井戸を掘った。

26. 아비멜렉이 그 친구 아훗삿과 군대 장관 비골과 더불을 그랄에서부터 이삭에게로 온지라

26. Meanwhile, Abimelech had come to him from Gerar, with Ahuzzath his personal adviser and Phicol the commander of his forces.

26。さて、アビメレクがゲラルからイサクのところにやって来た。友人のアフザテと、その軍の長ピコルも一緒であった。

27. 이삭이 그들에게 이르되 너희가 나를 미워하여 나에게 너희를 떠나게 하였거늘 어찌하여 내게 왔느냐

27. Isaac asked them, "Why have you come to me, since you were hostile to me and sent me away?"

27。イサクは彼らに言った。「なぜ、あなたがたは私のところに来たのですか。私を憎んで、自分tなちのところから私を追い出したのに。」

28. 그들이 이르되 여호와께서 너와 함께 계심을 우리가 분명히 보았으므로 우리의 사이 곧 우리와 너 사이에 맹세하여 너와 계약을 맺으리라 말하였노라

28. They answered, "We saw clearly that the LORD was with you; so we said, 'There ought to be a sworn agreement between us'--between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you

28。彼らは言った。「私たちは、主があなたとともにおられることを確かに見ました。ですから、こう言います。どうか私たちの間で、私たちとあなたとの間で、誓いを立ててください。あなたと盟約を結びたいのです。

29. 너는 우리를 해하지 말라 이는 우리가 너를 범하지 아니하고 선한 일만 네게 행하여 네가 평안히 가게 하였음이니라 이제 너는 여호와께 복을 받은 자니라

29. that you will do us no harm, just as we did not molest you but always treated you well and sent you away in peace. And now you are blessed by the LORD."

29。私たちがあなたに手出しをせず、ただ良いことだけをして、平和のうちにあなたを送り出したように、あなたも私たちに害を加えないという盟約です。あなたは今、主に祝福されています。」

30. 이삭이 그들을 위하여 잔치를 베풀매 그들이 먹고 마시고

30. Isaac then made a feast for them, and they ate and drank.

30。そこでイサクは彼らのために宴会を催し、食べたり飲んだりした。

31. 아침에 일찍이 일어나 서로 맹세한 후에 이삭이 그들을 보내매 그들이 평안히 갔더라

31. Early the next morning the men swore an oath to each other. Then Isaac sent them on their way, and they left him in peace.

31。翌朝早く、両者は互いに誓いを交わした。イサクは彼らを送り出し、彼らは平和のうちに彼のところから去って行った。

32. 그 날에 이삭의 종들이 자기들이 판 우물에 대하여 이삭에게 와서 알리어 이르되 우리가 물을 얻었나이다 하매

32. That day Isaac's servants came and told him about the well they had dug. They said, "We've found water!"

32。ちょうどその日、イサクのしもべたちが帰って来て、自分たちが掘り当てた井戸のことについて告げた。「私どもは水を見つけました。」

33. 그가 그 이름을 세바가 한지라 그러므로 그 성읍 이름이 오늘까지 브엘세바더라

33. He called it Shibah, and to this day the name of the town has been Beersheba.

33。そこでイサクは、その井戸をシブアと呼んだ。それゆえ、その町の名は、今日に至るまで、べエル・シェバという。

34. 에서가 사십 세에 헷 족속 브에리의 딸 유딧과 헷 족속 엘론의 딸 바스맛을 아내로 맞이하였더니

34. When Esau was forty years old, he married Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and also Basemath daughter of Elon the Hittite.

34。エサウは四十歳になって、ヒッタイト人べエリの娘ユディトと、ヒッタイト人エロンの娘バセマテを妻に迎えた。

35. 그들이 이삭과 리브가의 마음에 근심이 되었더라

35. They were a source of grief to Isaac and Rebekah.

35。彼女たちは、イサクとリベカにとって悩みの種となった。
